Counselling & Psychotherapy
Counselling and psychotherapy offer a safe therapeutic relationship where you can
explore your concerns without fear of being judged. The therapist will listen without
telling you what to do and will help you to make your own choices.
Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT)
Cognitive Behaviour Therapy is the ideal therapy for you if you want to develop
strategies to manage your difficulties in a different way. The overall aim of CBT is for you
to become your own therapist and so in this therapy you will be given tasks to do in
between sessions.
EMDR
EMDR stands for Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing. It is called this
because it has been found that moving the eyes in a specific way can aid the processing
of traumatic memories. During the therapy the therapist uses specific psychological
interventions alongside eye movements to address distressing memories. It is extremely
effective in helping people to recover from trauma.
My Qualifications
I gained my initial counselling qualification in 2001, completing a postgraduate diploma
in person centred counselling at Nottingham Trent University. I later completed
psychotherapy training at the Sherwood Institute in Nottingham and also completed a
professional doctorate in counselling psychology.
I am registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) as a Counselling
Psychologist and I am a UKCP registered psychotherapist. I am also accredited with the
British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).

I am based in Derby but I am
currently offering appointments by
video call using Wellola Talk. I
usually offer appointments
Saturday mornings and Monday
evenings.
